
The Executive Board of CRCOPR/ROPPA Meets to Strengthen Governance and Boost Rice Production in West Africa

Today marks the start of the Executive Board meeting of the West Africa Regional Consultative Framework for Rice Producers Organizations (CRCOPR), which is also affiliated with the Network of Peasant Organizations and Agricultural Producers of West Africa (ROPPA). This two-day meeting aims to strengthen the organization’s governance and plan upcoming activities for the rest of 2023.
This meeting is a key component of CRCOPR/ROPPA’s five-year plan, which aims to improve governance by clearly defining roles and responsibilities and ensuring the regular functioning of statutory bodies.
It is also an opportunity for Executive Board members to review the execution status of activities from January to April 2023 and decide on necessary measures and orientations for implementing activities from May to December 2023. This year’s first session of the Executive Board takes place in a context marked by the finalization of the third five-year plan 2023 – 2027.
The meeting will allow the examination of the progress of the implementation of the 2023 Annual Work and Budget Plan (AWBP), the challenges and issues for a better development of the rice sector in West Africa, and the planning of activities from June to December 2023.
The Executive Board members and the team will tackle several key issues, including the presentation and discussion on the AWBP 2023 of the CRCOPR and the project: Promotion of the Consumption of Local Products in West Africa (PCPL-AO), the review of the strategic axes of the five-year plan 2023 – 2027, the examination and validation of the technical and financial balance sheet for the period from January to April 2023, and the preparation of the next Ordinary General Assembly.
The expected results of the meeting include the adoption of the report from the last BE meeting, the presentation of the AWBP 2023 of the CRCOPR and the PCPL-AO to the BE members, the validation of the planning of activities from June to December 2023, and the discussion on the preparation of the next Ordinary General Assembly of the CRCOPR/ROPPA.
