Successful Conclusion of the Executive Board Meeting of the Regional Consultation Framework of Rice Producers Organizations in West Africa

Koubri, Burkina Faso – The Executive Board meeting of the Regional Consultation Framework of Rice Producers Organizations (RCF-RPO) in West Africa concluded successfully on May 23, 2023. This vital event brought together the members of the Executive Board and the technical team of the RCF-RPO, taking place against a backdrop marked by the finalization of the organization’s third five-year plan for 2023 – 2027.

This regular meeting of the governing bodies allowed for a review of the performance report for activities from January to April 2023 and the decision on necessary measures and directions for the implementation of activities from May to December 2023.

Numerous specific objectives were achieved during this event. The minutes of the last Executive Board meeting were adopted, the 2023 Work Plan and Annual Budget (WPAB) of the RCF-RPO and the project: Promotion of Local Products Consumption in West Africa (PLPC-WA) were presented and discussed, and the technical and financial performance report for the period from January to April 2023 was reviewed.

The planning of activities from June to December 2023 was also validated, ensuring a clear roadmap for the coming months. Participants also discussed the status of member contributions and made proposals for better mobilization of contributions.

The strategic axes of the five-year plan 2023 – 2027 were reminded to the members of the Executive Board, guaranteeing a shared vision for the future of rice production in West Africa. The preparation of the upcoming General Assembly of the RCF-RPO was also discussed, allowing for idea sharing and optimal coordination.

This significant event concluded with a closing remark from the PCA, following two days of constructive discussions and key decisions for the future of rice production in West Africa.

The Executive Board meeting of the RCF-RPO is a critical milestone for the future of the rice sector in the region, and the decisions made over these two days will have a significant impact on the direction of rice production in West Africa in the coming years. Participants parted on a note of optimism, with a renewed vision for a prosperous future for the rice sector in West Africa.
