Civil Society Organizations consulted within the framework of the 29th FAO regional conference for Africa

From 1th to 2nd April 2016, ROPPA participated in Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) in the workshop on the consultation of civil society organizations within the framework of the 29th FAO regional conference for Africa.

For some years, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have the opportunity to participate in FAO regional conferences through mouthpieces during technical and ministerial sessions. Owing to this participatory role, CSOs’ regional consultations are done on regular basis; that’s why PAFO member networks such as ROPPA participated from 1 to 2 April 2016 in Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) in consultations for the preparation of the 29th FAO regional conference for Africa.

This consultation will enable CSOs to (i) formulate regional positions on world policies and regulatory issues dealing with the FAO mandate ; (ii) identify specific problems of their respective regions and priority areas that should be taken into account in the planning of the annual work plan and budget of the organization, and give their opinions in order to favor coherence regarding the regional policy ; (iii) examine plans, programmes and/or projects executed by FAO that have an impact on the region and give opinions related to that and (iv) examine the effectiveness of the Organization’s activities in the region and give opinions related to the desirable changes.
